Asian Civilisations Museum at Empress Place Once an official government court house named after Queen Victoria, the Asian Civilisations Museum in Singapore was built in 1865 and contains 10 galleries. Themes are rich in Asian history, culture, religion and arts, and boast a collection of over 1,300 artefacts of jewellery, clothing, weapons, tools, and shrines from around the region.
Opening hours: 9.00am to 5.30pm (closed on Mondays)

National Museum of Singapore Known previously as the Singapore History Museum, this architectural wonder was renovated and reopened in December 2006. This interactive museum offers hands on way to learn about Singapore’s culture and history for the young and old alike through performing arts, three-dimensional exhibits, and other visual displays. Throughout the year the museum also offers classes, festivals and other activities.
Opening hours: 9.30am to 6.00pm (Tuesday to Sunday), Friday: 9.30am to 9.00pm, no admission charges after 6.00pm
