November 2018, SINGAPORE – Concorde Hotel Singapore has commemorated its first decade in October 2018. Formerly known as Le Meridien, the hotel was officially taken over by HPL Hotels and Resorts Group on 1st October 2008 and has graciously hosted guests from all over the world ever since.
To commemorate this decade’s milestone, the hotel announced a new philanthropic partnership with the Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund as part of its corporate social responsibility plan. Under this initiative, the hotel pledges SGD$10 per room that is occupied on 1st October 2018 to the foundation. Funds are raised further for the foundation from 1st October 2018 till 31st October 2018 through a donation box placed at the Spices Café, where guests are invited and encouraged to contribute while indulging in a scrumptious meal at the hotel’s main restaurant. Guests who donate stand a chance to win a One Night staycation in a Premier Club Room with breakfast for 2 persons worth $638++.
In conjunction with its 10th Year Anniversary, the hotel will also launch a Christmas light-up event with the foundation to mark the festivities. Over 120 beneficiaries of the Straits Times School Money Pocket Fund and their parents are invited to witness the official Christmas tree light-up ceremony at Concorde Hotel Singapore on Thursday, 6 December 2018. Featuring a 22 foot tall live Pine tree air-flown from USA, Christmas is celebrated in style this year; and with reduced carbon footprints. A grand display of the magical Christmas tree at the hotel’s lobby, along with its wonderful aroma that fills the hall heightens the Christmas atmosphere, giving a truly festive feel. This iconic tree will deck the halls of the hotel lobby throughout the holiday season.
After the light-up ceremony, guests are invited to feast on a decadent spread of festive treats handcrafted by the hotel. From Log Cakes and Christmas Pudding to savoury roasts like Honey Baked Ham and Roasted Turkey, Christmas comes early at Concorde Hotel Singapore. To heighten the festive joy, Uncle Ringo, a household name for carnival games since the 1980s will also be joining the party. Guests are in for a time of family fun with classic funfair game stalls like Ball the Clown and Ring Toss, including a live Cotton Candy and Balloon Sculpting station.
This party will allow the beneficiaries to fully bask in the festive atmosphere, enjoying a myriad of Christmas Treats, games, activities and performances planned by the hotel to usher in the festive season. The purpose of this event is to share the festive joy, warm the hearts of the children and to bring joy and laughter to these beneficiaries of the foundation.
“For the past ten years, the community has given so much to the hotel, so this time it’s our turn to give back” said Karl L Muir, General Manager. “It is our way of saying thank you for your continued support throughout these years.
